Amendment 4 will work

Amendment 4 will work

The Chronicle’s Jan. 16 editorial, “Proposed amendment would damage Florida,” is dead wrong!  It’s a nonpartisan constitutional amendment proposed by more than 1 million Florida voters, scrutinized extensively in Tallahassee and reluctantly approved.

Floridians have had enough of electing representatives who, time and again, favor Chamber of Commerce and business interests to their disadvantage. Electing new representatives will not cure the problem. Financing elections is predominantly done by businesses interested in insuring their future benefits, even though that financing comes from customers who paid for services received. Legislators are bought by business, and we must protect ourselves.

If businesses want a change to the comprehensive plan, let them provide the public their reasoning for it being an advantage and it will be approved by the voters.

Most damaging to the Chronicle’s concept is the current natural-gas drilling in the western states, causing untold cost to citizens and resource destruction.

I urge all citizens to vote for Amendment 4. Write “Yes for 4” on your Nov. 7 calendar.
