Re The Dec. 28 News-Journal report "State advises Volusia to kill massive (Miami Corp.) growth plan":
Time for the voters of Volusia County to do exactly what the voters of Ormond Beach did when what appeared a joint venture by a powerful developer and the mayor and commissioners of Ormond Beach would have polluted our skyline and rammed high-rise condominiums down our throats. Always under the guise of "beautification" and "increased ratables," which in reality become ugly in the form of overcrowded roads, schools, beaches, further destruction of the environment and its natural beauty, and yes, even higher taxes. The only people who benefit are the politicians and the developers.
I am appalled that the politicians running Volusia County would even consider, much less approve, this kind of deal. Any who voted for it needs to be voted out. This needs to be put to referendum and decided by the people, not by the privileged and those who do their bidding.
